Have you considered spending a great day out of the city on a bike in the Chianti wine region? Florence bike tours (part of Florence Tourism) are perhaps the best way one can sightsee the Tuscan countryside. Unlike a car or van which is closed on all sides, the bicycle ride gives the rider the feeling of being one with nature. Signing up for the bike tour is perhaps the best way to ensure you get your value for money. Priced at € 60 per person for a fully guided Florence day tour, the bike tour is available everyday from March to December.

To add to the natural attractions in Tuscany, the bikers ride a total of 23 km (13 m) on roads that are tree lined and lightly dotted with olive groves on mixed terrain. There is a short 900 meters climb uphill but rest assured. For there will be van support the entire way. The Florence day tour begins at 10 o’clock in the morning on the south of Ponte Alle Grazie. You will stop first at the Tuscan village situated atop a hill, for a castle tour in the heart of Chianti. The castle is home to a Count and Countess. This will be followed by a tour of the wine cellar in the castle, and a taste of the wines and oils from the family’s estate. From the castle’s tower, you get a spectacular view of the countryside.

For lunch, you will stop at a restaurant run by a family and experience the traditional fare – bread, pasta, salad, desert, coffee, and of course, wine. The bike tour will continue after lunch and you will get back to Florence after the drop off at 5 in the evening. If you are a non cycler, you are also welcome on the tour. There is, however, no discount available. Visit www.tuscany-biketours.com if you want information on the bike rides, the things to see or do in Florence or for any additional information.
